Are you knowledgeable in Linux as a developer, a system administrator or an end-user? Are you able to write high quality technical articles on Linux? Do you want to become a rock star in the Linux community by having tens of thousands of Linux fans read your tutorial? Then you want to contribute articles to Xmodulo.
We are not publishing software review/intro articles per se. However, you can still promote your software by contributing a tutorial at Xmodulo as follows. You can write a general how-to tutorial, based on your software. For example, if the main feature of your software is video format conversion, you could write a tutorial on how to convert a specific video format with [your-software]. An example article can be found here. Note that if there is already an article published with a similar FAQ at Xmodulo, such an article topic will be discouraged.
As a published author, you will have a dedicated author page at Xmodulo, where your name, biography, website link, and social profiles will be shown. As for in-content links, you can include them only if the purpose of including the link is to help readers understand a given article context better. You may not include a self-serving link just because the link matches a given keyword. We reserve right to exclude any link which we deem unnecessary.
If you want to write a distro-specific guide, you are welcome to do so. However, if your article describes how to install particular software on Linux, it will be best if the article covers installation instructions for individual Linux distros (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS), so users of any distro can get benefit from your article.
Good question. Xmodulo is regularly featured in major Linux publications, and read by avid Linux fans around the world (25K daily visitors). By publishing your article at Xmodulo, you will get your name known in the Linux community.
The articles published at Xmodulo are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported.
Email an archive (zip/tgz) containing your article and (optional) screenshots to [email protected]. Be sure to include your full name (pen name is fine), biography, website URL and social profile URLs. Your article will be proof read and may be edited before publication. Before submitting an article, you are welcome to contact us at [email protected] to discuss a possible article topic.
If you are knowledgeable in Linux and want to contribute articles to Xmodulo on a freelance basis, you are very welcome to do. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] with your offered rate per article. Also, be prepared to describe your experience and qualification in Linux, and show us Linux-related sample articles you have written before.
Adrien: Writing for Xmodulo is a very positive experience. It has been extremely beneficial and taught me a lot of good habits. I kept challenging myself and pushing my technical knowledge to its limits by selecting new topics every week. I hope that this way the readers have the chance to find something new or interesting every time. This has been possible only thanks to the great freedom granted to the writers. I am always able to select my own topics, and the content of my posts was never edited without my consent once submitted. It just feels good to know that people respect what you had in mind when you wrote something. So thank you Xmodulo/Dan for letting me explore the depth of the command line, and thank you the readers for the infallible attention you give us.
Sarmed: Writing for Xmodulo has been a great experience. As I always say, I believe that knowledge grows through sharing. Through Xmodulo, I am able to share my experiences to the vast number of regular Xmodulo readers, as well as stumblers who come from Google search. I hope that I can be of help through this platform, just as I myself take help from the vast knowledge base of the Internet. I am honored to write for Xmodulo and thank them for giving me the opportunity to contribute back to the world.
